Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills

Goal: $25,000.00

Specific Need

We are excited to participate in Grow Green Match Day for the first time!

Your contribution will directly fuel our mission to empower economically-disadvantaged entrepreneurs.

The funds raised are crucial for:

  • Providing technical assistance grants that enable entrepreneurs to access vital services like credit repair, accounting, legal aid, and marketing support, setting the foundation for their business success.
  • Hiring an additional business coach to offer personalized, one-on-one coaching, guiding our entrepreneurs through their business journey.
  • Establishing a Mental Health Program to fund therapy sessions for our entrepreneurs, addressing issues like racial and childhood trauma, PTSD, and other mental health challenges that can impede their entrepreneurial progress.

Grow Green Match Day ensures we can continue to offer these essential services, fostering a supportive environment for our entrepreneurs to thrive. Your support enables us to sustain and expand our impact, helping to bridge the gap and cultivate a community of successful, resilient business leaders. We deeply appreciate your contribution to this vital cause, helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Please take a moment to view our entrepreneurs stories at the bottom of this page to learn more about our impact.

Mission

Our mission is to narrow the racial wealth gap by engaging, empowering, and equipping black and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises and generational wealth through culturally responsive business training, resources, technical assistance, and access to capital.

Profile

The Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills serves over 110 business members in Riley, Geary, and Pottawatomie counties in the Flint Hills region of Kansas. Our members range from ages 12 to 65 including veterans, K-State students, faculty, staff and citizens of this community.

Our purpose is to empower, equip and engage black and economically-disadvantaged business owners in the Flint Hills with resources to build stronger and more effective businesses to positively impact our community. Through our community-building events, culturally-competent growth-focused business training, consulting, essential technical assistance, and strategic partnerships our organization works to bridge the racial wealth gap by building economic equality to increase black families and individuals’ net worth through entrepreneurship, ownership and becoming employers to create job opportunities and positive economic growth.

In 2023, BEFH directly funded over $125k minority-owned businesses through technical assistance grants, pitch competitions and direct vendor contracts. Over 40 businesses were able to gain much-needed support to fund essentials in their business including laptops, printers, supplies, software to ensure more efficient service delivery, equipment, industry certifications, state licenses and more.

Your investment will make a lasting impact on local families for years to come.
