Fairy Godmothers

Mission

The Fairy Godmothers' Funds are component funds of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation that will serve to benefit women of the Greater Manhattan area. The funds provide flexible monies to improve the health and well-being of women with limited resources who have immediate needs not met by traditional funding resources within the community.

Profile

In 2006, several Manhattan women saw the need to help women in our community. Members of the Fairy Godmothers organization share a strong commitment to continually increase funds so Manhattan area women can lead lives filled with promise and opportunity. Members become Fairy Godmothers because they care and want to help others. They know their donations will make a difference.

Currently, over 730 women are actively contributing and participating. Many members choose to serve on working committees or on the Advisory Board. Contributions continue to increase as the number of Fairy Godmothers grows, ensuring the unending progress toward the group's mission.

In 2021, Fairy Godmothers had over 170 donors at the Grow Green event, for a total $32,700.68, plus a matching grant of $10,000 for a total of $42,711.68. We are also planning our annual golf tournament, to increase dollars available for grants.

In 2020, we provided 99 grants for a total of $63,300. So much is happening to support women in our community!
