Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills

Goal: $50,000.00

Specific Need

Your donation will help us complete Build 31, which is right across the street from Ogden Elementary School. At a minimum, we need to maximize Grow Green Match Day by maxing out the 50% match up to $20,000 to grow our endowed fund at the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. This fund will enable us to pursue future larger projects like land aquisition so we can get closer to our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We're setting our goal at $50,000 which would finish Build 31 and get the foundation poured for Build 32.

Mission

Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

We get there by putting God’s love into action. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Profile

Hear from Executive Director Josh Brewer

With the support of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation and donors like you, we were able to purchase land across from Ogden Elementary last year and remove a dilapidated structure that lowered community safety and wellbeing. Since then, we’ve been hard at work replacing that structure with a three-home development for families who can pay an affordable mortgage. Our first homebuyer, Gabriela, works just across the street at Ogden Elementary and is excited to own a home of her own and demonstrate to her two kids how hard work can pay off.

Meanwhile, we’re seeing more need for repairs than ever before. Last year, our community repair team preserved 26 homes for area families and this year we expect to preserve another 50 homes. Our organization has grown to meet the need despite a challenging housing market and rising land and material prices because we have the support of everyday community members who donate to make our work possible.

This Grow Green Match Day, we’re raising funds to build our 31st home so that we can create the opportunity of homeownership for hardworking families like Gabriela’s. Let’s build it together.
