Specific Need

Homestead will be remodeling the kitchen & replacing furniture in the general living area at the Manhattan Homestead House this Spring 2026!  Your gift will assist our efforts to upgrade the home that now 100 trafficking survivors have called "home" for 1 to 3 years each!!

When you invest in the Homestead you are investing in holistic care that produces restoration, transformation, and empowerment for each trafficking survivor that is ready and able for life change.

Profile

I am still amazed that this started as a handful of people in Manhattan, KS, who were able to pull together and begin such a beautiful work on behalf of survivors. Homestead’s beginnings were small: one staff member, one church, with a very sharp and sometimes painful learning curve during the first couple of years. We made some mistakes, learned rapidly from those mistakes, but what our team has always done right was to love survivors in a BIG way!

Today we now exist as a 501(c)(3) non-profit with much expanded involvement including: paid staff, a Board, a knowledgeable “Screen Team” and much community involvement!   As a matured organization, we know exactly what we are called to do: discern “who” is a good fit for the Homestead Program, what we can offer each survivor and how best to administer holistic care which includes the body, soul & spirit work.  A new Leadership Pipeline for Homestead graduates is our answer to eradicating the societal evil of human trafficking!   This training gives graduates of Homestead tools in telling their story with the greatest impact and the skills to manage the resources of time, money & people for when they decide to become leaders in this fight to end this atrocity.  They are the warriors of tomorrow! 

Homestead has grown beyond the “us” and “them” mentality that seems to be prevalent in so many communities. Instead, we bring together both laity and professionals in our areas of needs and strengths. From hair stylists and pest management, to business men and women to stay-at-home moms, over 100 volunteers contribute to Homestead's mission! We have learned that everyone has something to contribute and together we are stronger and more effective. 

Homestead exists to give survivors an opportunity to make a lasting life change and learn a career that redirects their life.  Thanks to each of you who are willing to say, “Yes!” and come alongside Homestead Ministries. You make a difference in the lives of Human Sex Trafficking survivors who are also saying. “YES! I am ready and able to change if given the opportunity, resources, and the loving support to do so.” We believe providing these opportunities for survivors should be on the heart of every person who thankfully has avoided the entrapment of human sex trafficking & of those who want to be a part of fighting and ending this wicked underbelly of society.
