Mission

The mission of Morning Star. Inc. is to empower people through mental health and substance use recovery to break through the barriers of stigma while decreasing isolation, incarcerations and hospitalizations. We do this by offering peer support services in a safe, trusting and healthy environment.

Our purpose is to offer a safe, drug and alcohol ffree community for people to experience a sense of belonging and programs to help reach a more fulfilling and healthy life.

Our vision is that all people with mental illness will transform their lives as they experience the journey of recovery.

Profile

We support our members reaching the four major dimensions support a life in mental health recovery: Health: Make informed, healthy choices that support physical and emotional well-being. Home: Have a stable and safe place to live. Purpose: Engage in meaningful daily activities, such as a job or school, volunteering, caring for your family, or being creative. Work for independence, income, and resources to participate in society. Community: Build relationships and social networks that provide support, friendship, love, and hope.

We offer groups and activities. Currently our groups are: Smoking Cessation, Depression and Anxiety Group, Anger Management, Connections Recovery Support Group, Seeking Safety: a PTSD and Substance Abuse Group, Drama Therapy, Spirituality Group, Tai Chi Group, Dual Recovery Anonymous (for people with both an addiction and mental illness), Art Therapy, Music Group and Meditation Group.
