Purple Power Animal Welfare Society

Mission

Fostering, Adopting, & Rescuing Kansas Homeless Pets

Purple Power Animal Welfare Society is a network of VOLUNTEERS dedicated to saving and improving the lives of at-risk dogs and cats in Kansas and beyond. Founded in 2012, we have rescued more than 3,000 animals from death row and abusive/neglectful situations. Purple PAWS intakes new dogs and cats (of any age, breed and background) almost every week.

We are a foster-based rescue. All of our animals go to foster homes, where they are integrated into family life and prepared for adoption. Ultimately, Purple PAWS strives to place our rescued pets into permanent, adoptive homes where their specific needs will be met and personalities will be adored.

Thanks to our volunteersadopters, and supporters, Purple PAWS has rescued and successfully re-homed thousands of dogs and cats that would have otherwise been euthanized. With the continued support from our generous community, we plan to save thousands more!

Profile

Purple Power Animal Welfare Society is a 100% volunteer based, 501c3 non-profit animal rescue organization licensed by the Kansas Dept. of Agriculture, celebrating 10 years in 2022!

PPAWS, as we often like to refer to ourselves, rescues dogs and cats from surrounding areas including out-of-state animal shelters when necessary.  Our volunteers take these animals into their personal homes to foster and love them until their permanent furever home is found through our application process.  Fostering these animals in-home allows our volunteers to learn the animals habits, likes/dislikes, health and adaptability to other animals, children, etc. in the hopes that, when reviewing applications, interviewing applicants and their preferred Veteranarian, we can find the most suitable furever home for these amazing furbabies.  They deserve the best!

In 2021, PPAWS purchased a local property/home in the Manhattan area…through donations made to our organization throughout the years.  We refer to this home as "HQ" (Headquarters).  We have been working diligently through more volunteer hours and donations to prepare HQ as a transitional space and temporary shelter for dogs and cats that we must urgently rescue from euthanasia in the surrounding area until their temporary foster home is found.  We have a "house parent" that resides at the home 24/7 to care for these animals.  We also store our supplies at HQ for our foster familes to pick up weekly for their animals.

While we most often rescue from local personal surrenders, our organization/fosters will save furbabies from kill shelters in Kansas towns like Abilene, McPherson, Lincoln, Russell, Solomon, Washington, Liberal, Wichita, Garden City and Dodge City!

PPAWS and its volunteers are committed to saving as many furry lives as possible and ensuring these rescues are placed in the best furever homes possible.  Its with DONATIONS that we are able to provide these animals with the very best while we care for them until their futures are paved in stone with their furever families.

We woof appreciate your consideration and support!  Meow!
