Wolf House Fund

Mission

Provide support for the preservation of the Wolf House Museum Historic Site.

Profile

This one hundred and fifty year old stone house allows local citizens, school children and visitors to step back into Victorian Manhattan.  Built in 1868, its furnishings and décor illustrates home life of the 1880’s, when the city water system was brand new and other conveniences (such as electricity and the telephone) were still in the future.

In 2019 the Wolf House Museum and the other historic buildings of the Wolf House Historic Site were listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Wolf House Museum is part of the educational and preservation program of the Riley County Historical Society and Museum.  The Greater Manhattan Community Foundation Wolf House Fund was established by Ron and Dixie West to provide an endowment for the preservation of the Wolf House Museum Historic Site, in honor of Edna Williams its first Curator.
